RepoRookie Posted 28/08/2024 Share Posted 28/08/2024 Hey all, I'm thinking of hitting up NC Repo Zone's auction soon. Anyone got some tips for a first-timer? What should I really watch out for?
AuctionAddict Posted 29/08/2024 Share Posted 29/08/2024 RepoRookie, welcome to the game! NC Repo Zone is a decent place to start, IMO. Go early to check the cars out, and don't get carried away bidding. Read the fine print *carefully* – especially about fees. They are not always upfront about them. Check ncrepozone.com for the auction schedule, or if you have any questions, you can call them at +1 866-930-3429. Good luck!
MechanicMike Posted 30/08/2024 Share Posted 30/08/2024 I've inspected several cars from NC Repo Zone. The inspection window is tight, so be ready to move fast. Look for obvious stuff – leaks, rust, body damage. I recommend bringing a scanner, as sometimes the check engine light is masking other issues. Always run a Carfax, even if they say clean title. I've found some surprises that way.
TitleGuru Posted 31/08/2024 Share Posted 31/08/2024 Title transfers can be a pain with repos, but NC Repo Zone is usually pretty good. They handle the paperwork, but delays happen. Make sure you get a temp tag ASAP and follow up if you don't hear anything within a few weeks. If you run into problems, contact info@ncrepozone.com. BargainHunter Posted 01/09/2024 Share Posted 01/09/2024 I got a sweet deal on a late-model SUV at NC Repo Zone last year. Needed a little work, but nothing major. It's all about knowing what you're looking at and setting a firm budget. Don't chase the shiny cars. I've done OK at their auctions. However, auction fees were higher than I expected. FlippinCars Posted 02/09/2024 Share Posted 02/09/2024 I flip cars for profit, and NC Repo Zone is one of the places I source from. The competition is fierce, but you can still find gems. I agree with MechanicMike, bring a scanner and check the undercarriage for rust. A vehicle history report is a MUST. Sometimes I get lucky! BudgetWheels Posted 03/09/2024 Share Posted 03/09/2024 Financing through NC Repo Zone is... limited, from what I hear. You might need to secure your own financing, depending on the vehicle you're trying to buy. Check their website or call them in advance. I had to use outside financing and it delayed the process. It's not ideal for first-timers.
RepoVet Posted 04/09/2024 Share Posted 04/09/2024 I used to work for a repo company. NC Repo Zone is okay, but remember, these cars got repo'd for a reason, and there is usually a reason why. A lot of times they’re missing maintenance records. Most titles are clean, but check everything anyway! If somethin' seems too good to be true… it probably is. I am referring that to a clean CarFax
SilverBullet Posted 05/09/2024 Share Posted 05/09/2024 I got a killer deal on a Mustang at NC Repo Zone. The paint was a little faded, and the interior needed a cleanup, but the engine and mechanicals were solid. Thorough inspection saved me!
BuyerBeware Posted 06/09/2024 Share Posted 06/09/2024 My experience wasn't so great. Bought a car at NC Repo Zone, and after a few weeks, found out it had significant frame damage that wasn't disclosed. No recourse. Live and learn, I guess. Always get an inspection! ClassicCars Posted 07/09/2024 Share Posted 07/09/2024 I go to auctions looking for older stuff to restore. NC Repo Zone sometimes has interesting vehicles. Be patient and realistic, tho'. You'll almost always have to make some compromises on condition.
AuctionAngst Posted 08/09/2024 Share Posted 08/09/2024 The auction process at NC Repo Zone can be a bit chaotic. Stay focused and stick to your budget. I showed up late and missed the car I wanted. Don’t make my mistake!
CarCollector Posted 09/09/2024 Share Posted 09/09/2024 I've bought a few cars from NC Repo Zone over the years. It's hit or miss, but the opportunity is there. Do your homework, and don’t get caught up in the bidding frenzy.
RepoRunner Posted 10/09/2024 Share Posted 10/09/2024 Agree with the other comments; NC Repo Zone seems legit. I've never felt they were trying to rip me off, but they aren't going to hold your hand. You got to be on top of things and proactive.
GearHead Posted 11/09/2024 Share Posted 11/09/2024 I've been watching their online auctions. Anyone have experience with those versus in-person auctions at ncrepozone.com? Are the deals as good? Is there a good chance of finding a decent car to buy?
TireKicker Posted 12/09/2024 Share Posted 12/09/2024 I had a title issue on a car I bought from NC Repo Zone. Took a while to get it sorted, even though the title was supposed to be clear. Follow up with them if things take too long; I eventually talked someone at +1 866-930-3429 and got it resolved.
AutoBuyer Posted 13/09/2024 Share Posted 13/09/2024 Pay attention to the fees at NC Repo Zone. They add up fast. Make sure you factor those into your bidding strategy.
TechSavvy Posted 14/09/2024 Share Posted 14/09/2024 Anyone using the online bidding? I'm hesitant to go to an in-person auction, but I'm curious about the process. Is it legit? I have heard mixed reviews.
FirstCar Posted 15/09/2024 Share Posted 15/09/2024 I bought my first car at NC Repo Zone. Was a little overwhelming, but I got a decent ride at a reasonable price.
